In November 2009, City Parks Services embarked on a 21-month native revegetation programme for Waitakere City Council. A key component of this programme was eco sourced plant propagation, with seeds and cuttings collected from native bush in the Waitakere region, and plants propagated at City Parks Services' own nursery in Kari Street, Auckland. The project includes the supply and planting of 25,000 plants as well as after care maintenance, including mulch application, at a number of sites.
This is a significant project, with the revegation covering nine major parks across Waitakere City, and includes the ongoing maintenance of a further 14 revegetation sites previously planted.
Other services included in this project are site preparation, including the removal of rubbish, the removal of weeds, felling and chipping of weed tree species, and associated traffic management and health and safety plans.
